Steel fabrication, Birkenhead.
Birkenhead is the nearest town to our Bootle works on the far side of the Mersey. The Kingsway Tunnel puts its docks and town centre about 20 minutes away, so a Birkenhead job is planned and delivered like any other on the Liverpool side. The town grew around shipbuilding and the dock estate, and that is still where much of its steelwork demand comes from. Vessels need repair plate, deck fittings and gangways. Quaysides and terminals need walkways, handrails, platforms and access steel built to survive salt air and heavy use.
MSR started out as Merseyside Ship Repairers in 1987 and marine fabrication is still part of our everyday work, so that kind of job sits squarely in what we do. Further from the water, the regeneration of Birkenhead town centre and the dock estate brings structural frames, canopies, stairs and secondary steelwork for commercial buildings. Around the town, Wirral homes and businesses order balustrades and architectural metalwork where the finish matters as much as the strength. We have already delivered work close by, including the Moreton Hills golf range canopy and the step-free footbridge at Meols Station on the Wirral Line.
Access is tight on most Birkenhead sites, whether that is a working quay, a live dock or a town-centre street, so we fabricate everything in our two Bootle factories to the right tolerance first. It arrives ready to fit, and our own erection crew installs it in the window available.
