Steel staircases, Liverpool.

MSR fabricates steel staircases in Liverpool from our two factories in Bootle, and our own team fits them. That covers feature stairs for offices, bars and homes, external and fire escape stairs, and the access stairs and platforms that industrial and rail sites need.

Every stair starts with a site visit. We measure the real opening and floor-to-floor height rather than relying on the drawing alone, so the stair fits first time and there’s no cutting on the day. Stringers, treads and landings are then cut, welded and finished in Bootle, usually as complete units, and delivered ready to fix.

We’ve been fabricating steel since 1987, for clients from Tier 1 rail contractors to city-centre venues. At Hunt’s Cross station we fabricated and fitted staircases alongside the lift towers and footbridge in a Grade II listed station that stayed open throughout. Around Liverpool city centre we’ve made bespoke stair and bar metalwork for venues including Eric’s and BOHO.

FAQ

Steel Staircases: common questions.

How much does a steel staircase cost?

It depends on the size, the tread and balustrade style, the finish and how hard the site is to get into, so we price each one from the drawing. Send us the floor-to-floor height, the opening size and a photo of the space and we'll come back with a firm quote.

Can you build a staircase from an architect's drawing?

Yes. Send us the GA and we'll template the actual opening on site before any steel is cut, so the finished stair fits the space as built, not just the drawing.

Do you install the staircase as well?

Yes. Our own team fits the stairs we make. Where we can, a staircase goes out as a complete unit and is carried or craned into position, which keeps time on site short.

Do you make external and fire escape stairs?

Yes. We fabricate external steel staircases, including fire escape stairs for converted buildings, galvanised or painted for outdoor use. The layout has to suit your building's fire strategy and Building Regulations, so we work to the design your architect or fire engineer sets.
